September 9-14, 2016 – Reflections on Minnesota

Welcome to Minnesota!  They recycle more than just aluminum here.  The parks we’ve seen have all been very well maintained.  Their online reservation system allows you to do same-day reservations which means you can find out if there are sites available before you get there.

They have bears here but the wood ticks and mosquitos will get you first!

This seems to be a very family oriented state.  Large, multi-generational extended families out doing activities.  Kids out playing and riding bikes with their parents.  Of course, it’s the parks and small town view, not the big city view but it still is different than other states we’ve seen.

Minnesota drivers are polite, drive the speed limit and hardly ever pass.  They are content riding behind you at the speed limit.

Things we’ve enjoyed:

  • The Soudan Iron Mine tour

  • The Particle Physics Lab tour

  • The Minnesota Discovery Center
